Howdy Lovebugs!
Lots of news today! After way, waaayy too long, I finally have new songs to share with you! It's been quite the journey getting back to the point where I'm ready to record again. In 2009, when I put out Cartography, (my first little starter album) I had so much melody pouring out of me I didn't know what to do besides find a studio! It's funny how productive heartache can be when coupled with a post-graduation life crisis and a ukulele! In the last couple years, I got my feet wet by performing in Colorado and a bit during some nomadic months spent abroad. During that time, I tried on the idea that perhaps music was what I should be doing with my life. It's a bit scary, though, when something seems to choose you, rather than you choosing it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't chicken out for a while, but my chicken-self still managed to hatch a few fuzzy, new song babies that have grown up stronger than any I had raised before. Last month, when two of my darling friends got married and asked me to sing during their ceremony, I had a new song pop up and all of a sudden it became quite clear that it's time for me to get my butt in the studio again!
And that's where you come in! If you're not familiar with it, Kickstarter.com is a great website that allows musicians, artists, and all sorts of movers and shakers to fund projects by sending out a call to fans, and friends, and anyone who might be interested in their work. Through Kickstarter, I've launched a Pre-Sale, to help me pay for studio time, musicians, and printing of the new album! It will allow me to focus on making these songs the best they can be, rather than being distracted by the financial stress of putting this project on credit. Your contribution will certainly be a big ol' act of generosity and kindness, but you'll also be getting music in return as soon as it's finished! The album it's self will be an EP of 5 or so songs, and there are additional prizes the more you contribute. You will only be charged if the project reaches it's goal of $1,700 so you can rest easy knowing that you won't be paying for something that might not be funded enough to produce a quality end product.
Please message me if you have any questions or just want to say hello!
Thanks for your support!
